  • Name Hazelfield Farm

Hazelfield farm is a diversified family-owned and family-operated farm producing almost five acres of specialty cut-flowers and over twice that much in fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, and grains.  Owners and parents, Raphe and Teresa, started selling at the Hyde Park Farmers’ Market during its first year.  Since that time the family has grown.  Now their oldest daughter Esmee, and her husband Todd, and their son Miller, attend the market in the produce booth and run a gourmet CSA program. Their youngest daughter, Sayward, stays busy designing custom ordered bouquets in the flower booth.

Hazelfield practices “unconventional” farming techniques.  They grow everything they sell, most we started from seed, using only methods consistent with the requirements of organic certification, including integrated pest management strategies, beneficial insects, and a lot of manual work to bring customers the best products around. As you can imagine, there are a lot of animals roaming around the farm that we all consider part of the family.  Cows and calves, flocks of chickens, a family of miniature donkeys, and many more.  And the golden retrievers compete as man’s best friend.

Our FlowersOur flower booth offers a few traditional but many unique seasonal fresh-cut stems ranging from our fragrant peonies in the spring to the bright zinnias and cockscombs in the heat of the summer, to our fall favorite sunflowers and dahlias. We also dry some of our summer annuals to provide dried flower bouquets and wreaths in late summer and early fall.  Our original design, the pumpkin arrangements, are available starting in October. Our flower season ends with lush greenery wreaths, garlands and swags for holiday decorating.

As active members of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers, we are always learning about and growing new and unusual varieties for our customers. We also provide and specialize in custom floral design services for events, big or small, a special occasion or just because…using our fresh Kentucky grown flowers.  We offer unique and elegant wedding designs.
